King Street, First Home

About the couple

The owners of this custom designed home already owned their land and wanted a home designed to make the most of their section. This was their first home and to be able to build their first home was very exciting for them.

The couple started off with a concept plan that they found after a lot of research and re-designed the interior layout and increased the footprint to 180sqm to accommodate their lifestyle and to create spacious open plan living. Their idea was to design a home that wasn’t pokey and gave them a sense of open spaces.

They love the outdoors, so it was important to have good indoor-outdoor flow and plenty of space to entertain and for their future family to also enjoy the outdoors.

The Design

The home was designed by Arcline Architecture whom is one of our preferred Architects and the finished result was just as they imagined. This home is a 3-bedroom home, with one large bathroom and ensuite, it consists of timber weatherboard cladding and a coloursteel roof, a 2.7 stud height was decided on for the two wings to create that spacious feel with the entry being slightly lower. Large stacker doors were used in the main living and dining area and American Rustic Oak timber flooring was used in the kitchen and the entry to break up the carpet and tiles which cover the floors throughout the rest of the home.

The owners wanted something a little different but did not want to go over the top which is why they chose this lovely hardwood flooring which was finished black filled knots and polyurethane which really made it stand out.

The colours used on the exterior of the home complement each other well, there are two large deck areas, the main deck for entertaining which wraps around the dining and living area and a private deck off the master bedroom.

The homeowners were very please with the finished result and the entire build process from start to finish.
